Should we keep or remove the Tldr bot?

[email protected] mod removing comment suggesting consolidation of that community with this one as their moderation community is spread too thin, thankfully modlog is public

Link to the modlog: https://reddthat.com/modlog/11298

Link to the community: [email protected]

Edit: for context, I first sent a DM to the single mod asking them if we could consider merging communities (basically my comment below). They ignored me but opened the thread.

My comment > Should we maybe consider merging this one with [email protected] ? We have regular pinned posts and movie-specific discussion threads over there, and that community has been more active than this one lately, be it weekly or monthly (1.54k vs 1.32k and 2.92k vs 2.51k). The moderation team has several people, including movie enthusiasts who post there regularly. We had our first AMA a while ago a few weeks ago: https://lemm.ee/post/31335226 And if people ask why we wanted to have a community on another instance than Lemmy.world, the large majority of active communities are already on LW (https://lemmyverse.net/communities?order=active), it seems better to spread communities a bit.

Reason for removal > Not currently considering this action Maybe in the future.

I guess I'm just a bit sad that they removed the comment altogether instead of letting it there and considering a discussion.

I've heard several times that Lemmy should consolidate communities (like what happened with [email protected] and [email protected] recently), but I guess it's easier said than done.

In the meantime, congrats for making this community the most active one!

So the "other community"'s admins are properly toxic?

I'm talking about [email protected] .

Just recently had a post (cross-post of CGI video posted here) removed for no reason (none stated at least) and then they banned me for asking why.

You can see it all in the modlog, filtered to just actions against me.

The lack of any engagement on why a post gets removed and trigger happy user banning just screams bad moderator culture to me.

I didn't realise they were like this before and now realise that an alternative place that's kinder and more open is important. I don't know how the other mods (I'm mostly an accidental mod) are here, but I get the feeling that this is a nicer place and I hope it stays that way (plus the growing user numbers probably reflects this?)

Anyway, just thought I'd share as you wouldn't know when this stuff happens unless someone tells you in another community.

Hope political/drama posts are ok (I didn't see anything in the rules against them).

Does anybody know a way to automatically create discussion threads for movies?

Hello everyone,

Basically title. I'm looking for a way to automate this process, as it would be easier to make sure that those threads are created on time to allow people to discuss the movies.

Let me know if you have any idea, thanks!

1000 monthly active users!

Hello everyone,

Thanks to the Lemmy.world update, the reported number of monthly active users is now higher (have a look at [email protected] for details)

We reached 1000, which is very nice considering we only restarted this community a few weeks ago.

Thank you everyone for contributing, and hopefully we can keep having nice discussions here.
