I was afraid for a moment that both Suletta and Eri were transferred to the dolls at the end, which would have sort of straddled the line between “mildly depressing” and “massively depressing”, at least.
Ok so seems I'm the odd one out here with how I feel about this episode, it felt like a lot of wasted potential to me, this show has been one of my favorite things this year but this episode I am not even entirely sure how to feel about.
Everyone responsible for the war and countless innocent deaths get to go scot free, the only person who is punished is the guy who was held up as a champion by the oppressed people of the earth, that just doesn't sit right with me. Even beyond that big scale stuff, on smaller scale nothing really resolved in a satisfying way for me, relationship between Suletta and Prospera, relationship between Delling and Mio, at no point does Prospera even acknowledge what an awful abusive mother she was to Suletta who nothing but adored her even after realizing that herself, until the very last moment she tries to manipulate Suletta, same for Delling, we can't even really say how much blood is on this guy's hands but he gets a happy ending because he abused his daughter for her own good or something?? Redemption achieved?? Just so bizarre.
So much stuff jammed into a single episode and none of it was resolved in a satisfying manner. I honestly don't know what to make of it, I'm kinda just sad with how it all went.
@arya48@preston Yeah it doesn't seem fair that Shaddiq got imprisoned while Prospera and others went free. On the one hand I understand wanting to break the cycle of violence/revenge, but they could have at least acknowledged how abusive Prospera was. She should have faced some consequence.
I also wonder if the souls of Elan 4, Norea and Sophie got transferred somewhere or just Ericht...
Agree with your point. The show should have got the 50ish treatment all other gundam show had. But based on the fact they had only half the time they usually get, I find the ending really really good.
That final episode was just exceptionnal, and I don't know the official name for the final calibarn but I really really need that kit... Hope it's not a P-Bandai... A Perfect Grade Unleashed with metal plates and LED would be dope
They really just had gay rainbow space magic resurrect the dead, end war, and bless the marriage of Suletta and Miorine, and ended it all with a rainbow title card. What a gigachad move from Gundam, honestly.
spread of information thermological entropy confirmed? sounds like it's time for claude shannon to save the day.
i suppose the finale is alright end to a pretty strong rest of the season but it kinda feels like a lot was jammed in at the end (not helped with dumping all these new terms on us) that could be explored in more detail over a longer of period of time (which i guess is still possible, although the show made the point of putting "this is where the story concludes" at the end..). seeing the space assembly league use previous events as a power play and excuse to completely hunt down the benerit group and associates would've been intriguing to see play out much further. the data storm thing kinda ended up being pretty newtypey that might be explorable more (or at least explained more, especially with things dissolving and the whole entropy thing... but that also may be treading on previously explored territory, just with a different name). also there's a lot of potential for themes to explore, like the whole data storm thing and connecting things together (DSoT, data storm of things?) and there's that whole thing about gund-arm tech being used for weaponry vs medical uses that kinda does play a plot point (petra got new legs!) but also kinda feels unexplored, at least in terms of the process behind-the-scenes and actually getting to that point.
As much as I wish it had 50 episodes like the other mainline Gundams, I am happy with this episode. I don't have the energy right now to really discuss why or why not, as it would end up becoming a full review on the entire show, so I'll just comment that I'm really happy that the main girls get to stay together, and that office lady Secelia made me weak in the legs...
Just watched the final episode, and it's honestly one of the more satisfying endings I've seen, sure there is more parts of the story to explore but I like that, it leaves me dreaming of what could be.
Not sure where all of those newtype data storm ghosts came from at the end. El4n and Nadim I could understand since they were Gundam pilots, but many of the other ghosts had never interacted with the data storm in that way.
Ah well, space magic's been a part of Gundam since the beginning, but it's never been my favourite aspect of the franchise. This was still a great episode in all other respects.
And apparently it wasn't delayed. I hope my post didn't cause anyone to miss this episode.
