This decade-old Early Access title on Steam is getting a major overhaul soon, which will completely change the survival zombie horror game.
Project Zomboid Build 42 is the biggest update to the game yet, with new crafting mechanics, weapons, customization options, and the ability to extend the length of sandbox campaigns.
Players can access the new features early by joining the Project Zomboid test branch, although there is a risk of encountering bugs or corrupt save files.
The update will introduce new professions like Blacksmithing, Stonework, and Brewing, allowing players to be more self-sufficient and create advanced weapons.
Project Zomboid is an absolute blast. Definitely a steep learning curve, but if you can get over that hurdle it's an extremely fun survival/zombie game.
I think it's still at the "It's done when it's done" stage with no official 1.0 date. I don't know when the last time you played was, but it's very feature complete at this stage besides the addition of NPC's as far as I'm aware.
Oh, yeah, I played on the most recent build. I absolutely can't wait for NPCs, but I realize I'll be in a retirement home before that update gets released.
I'm a little confused about the article's headline if there isn't even an announced release date. Guess that's just modern journalism.
Tried many times to get in to PZ but the UI is just so horribly clunky. And that's from someone with hundreds of hours in Cataclysm. Come to think of it, might be time for another run of CDDA.
