I have a coffee cup with commands on it called The Mug of Vi. It reminds me of the basic commands I always forget, and it provides coffee which is nice.
I have memorized a few dozen commands. there are a few I don't remember but need occasionally. I post those on the bulletin board above my computer screen until I learn them. now it's spelling commands (]s [s z= and zg).
I like picking a few keybinds that are helpful (e.g., f for inline searching) and very intentionally using them for a week or so. Eventually it will become muscle memory, which is the best feeling ever!
As I don't use vim too much, almost every few years I have to resort to this old IBM tutorial to make again a new cheat sheet for me. Use Vim, stop using it, lose cheat sheet, begin again.
