FFXIII was my first Final Fantasy game. I Adored Fang and Vanille. Played through it while it was bring trashed on by everyone I knew but I really enjoyed the story, I didn't care about how linear it was.
In fact my least favorite part of the game was where it was less linear.
First exposure to the franchise was the Spirits Within, then Advent Children. Watched and enjoyed Advent Children without any knowledge of FF7, looking forward to going back to watch it again after the last part of the remake trilogy.
Got really involved in FFXIV, to the point where I'm strongly considering getting a tattoo of the legacy symbol on my back.
I don't even know for favorite song, probably Answers.
XIII was actually a great game, and I’m not sure the trashing it got at the time was deserved. It does seem that opinions have mostly changed though.
It’s interesting that you’d seen Advent Children before playing any of VII, did you find that the movies influenced any of your opinions of the games?
Answers is a fantastic song. XIV has some amazing music, Soken really is a master of his craft.
Playing through VII remake I was surprised at how much of a jerk Cloud is at the start of the game, cause my first exposure to him was at the end of his character arc.
Interesting. I never thought about that when you mentioned it, but I’m not surprised at your surprise. Cloud is a bit of a jerk to begin with. There is some good character development in there for him to go from VII to AC. I am curious on how his character will develop through Rebirth.
