[Support] Firefox severly distorting the voice of videos on Linux

edit: It turns out it was because I had made a minor change in my firefox config to make my browser cosplay as an edge browser (so I can use their new search AI), it's because of that minor change that I am facing this problem. Revert back and everything works out.

I have had this problem for a few days now, Firefox has been distorting the voice of videos for a good while now and I don't know the cause of the problem, it's unlikely the extensions are doing it because I tried opening a random reddit video on a private tab and it didn't work out either. Any help regarding this would be helpful!

This is the original video, again, I am not into the politics of it, but this video was instantly available and I recorded it.

Here is what I heard: https://imgur.com/a/kYxyBvV

  • That's certainly a huge improvement IMO

    🤣

Nobody can help because nobody knows what software you're running.

To check Firefox, you go to about:profiles and create/test a new one.

To fix your Operating System you go to your Operating System FORUM and put in a well formatted request for assistance.

Some Firefox people are also over at https://fedia.io/m/firefox so go try there.

FYI: I opened your link and it plays perfectly in Firefox.

  • If you are using a user agent switcher, reset it to the default / real browser. That is the sole cause of distorted audio I have personally experienced anyway, and it sounded exactly like your link until I set it back.

I opened the link in a private tab, set the user agent to

    long ua string

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/113.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 uacq

and when I refreshed the tab the audio was distorted. Hope this helps your investigation
