Maybe attach a photo or a video to show how much play you've got? I suspect this kind of thing is really down to personal preference though. If you're sliding around missing shifts, I'd for sure change them. Mine haven't had that problem so much as the sun has really attacked the rubber over time, and they're permanently tacky now.

Did you make sure all the little molded in lugs are seated? I haven’t experienced saggy hoods like that, but have had it look rough when I didn’t get them engaged with the plastic housing properly. If they are just stretched out beyond repair then I’d replace because it would annoy me a bunch otherwise
