Swipe anywhere to go back is an awesome feature that I absolutely love! No more reaching the edge of the screen. Just a quick swipe from anywhere, and you're back to where you were. It's so convenient. I first experienced this feature on the Apollo app, and now I wish every app had it. With Swipe anywhere to go back, I tend to open posts more easily because it’s easier to go back.
One feature could also be swipe across the bottom navigation bar to go back, the Thunder iOS app had this gesture to open the subscription pane, but I think that the same idea can be used here!
I think this is the best idea. While it could be done as requested, it might be problematic with the current gestures. I'll need to look into how to implement it properly.
The thing with putting it on the navigation bar is that, in the future, if you implement the full-screen mode that hides the top and bottom navigation bar when scrolling down, the bar would be hidden.
Thanks for making me aware I can swipe from the edge of the screen. How would swipe anywhere work with swipe voting? Or are they mutually exclusive options?
That depends on whether you use only swipe anywhere to go back or both back and forward. In my case, it was just back, so it was still possible to do the swipe voting and comment from the other direction.
What I loved about Apollo’s is that you could swipe anywhere as an option but I loved the gestures and having that bottom bar to swipe forward and back was awesome and I’m still doing it out of habit and accidentally putting myself into another tab
