I am a bit worried about the amount of spam/ hate content that is appearing in the community.
Obviously, this is not the mod's fault. I am sure they are deleting everything as soon as they see it. However, as it is so easy to make new accounts, and how few posts are being made, the front page can very quickly be flooded with spam and horrible content.
I have pulled up the home page twice in the past half-hour and seen: spam images, porn and a decapitated head. Obviously, I have blocked and reported the posts, however, since new accounts can seemingly be created immediately I don't see a quick fix for stopping this content from appearing.
Obviously, Reddit's API changes are awful, and I support the protest. But, I just cannot see this becoming a suitable replacement if there are no automated tools to stop this content from appearing.
I assume Reddit had some form of automated content filtering and bot account detection to ensure these types of posts would never be seen by a human.
Hiya, I believe all of this content was removed within minutes of posting, but @Cyber makes a great point about verification. There are several levels of account verification and anti-spam, anti-bot settings we can tune up. Looks like it's time to increase those a bit. I can turn those up now.
Thanks to everyone who clicked report on that content.
