Would be nice to have a few iOS-only apps that are designed entirely around Apple’s UX, like Apollo. Please Christian, don’t leave us…
21 0 ReplyMlem is very Apollo reminiscent
10 0 ReplyYeah I’ve used it, and it’s good. The text editor is better on Memmy though, more like Apollo. Search too.

Try wefwef.app in Safari and add it to your homescreen!
7 1 ReplyYeah I tried it, and it worked fine…but I’d still prefer a native app from an amazing dev, y’know? Christian added so much to the Apollo app…sad to see it all go to waste.
6 0 ReplyThis website is really cool! Thanks for the link
3 1 ReplyDumb question but I have a Lemmy account, when I tried to use my login info there it didn't work. Do I need to create an account there also and link them?
1 0 ReplyThis genuinely blew my mind, it’s so smooooth

Artemis is taking large inspiration from Apollo, while still being unique so it's not an exact clone. The magazine is /m/ArtemisApp!
5 0 ReplyI’ve heard of it, just waiting for betas to open up a bit. Even then, however, the fact that it’s cross-platform means it’ll probably not be perfectly in-line with Apple’s HIG. Apollo almost feels like Apple designed it, which is part of why I enjoy it so much.

I'm working on mine too (iOS)
Missing a few key features for now, but hopefully, I'll be able to Testflight+OpenSource by the end of next week.
13 0 ReplyThis looks beautiful
2 0 Replythanks!

What’s the minimum required iOS version? I fear that I’ll be iOS 16 and up.
0 1 ReplyIndeed, because I'm using some of the recent SwiftUI APIs to handle app's navigation. What iOS version are you on?

Thanks for this!
I believe Memmy is also planning on supporting Android soon if it doesn’t already. I’ve been super impressed with it so far!
9 0 ReplyI'm really liking Thunder and Liftoff. Having a hard time choosing between the two.
8 1 ReplySame! I prefer compact view in Thunder, but it lacks the automatic dark theme switch, and an option to change overall colour (I can't stand that much purple!)

Liftoff is in the Play Store now.

Of the play store apps I think connect is the best one so far. Very customisable.
6 0 ReplyI'm happy to see Slide make a lemmy client, it's the client I use until a greedy CEO to the core thought with his wallet
5 0 ReplyHe isn't greedy. If he were greedy, he'd have figured out a way to keep way more money. The truth is, he is incompetent. Over half a billion dollars in revenue, for a company who's only product is a website that costs a few hundred grand a year to run, and he can't figure out in over a decade how to make money from this.
3 0 ReplyYes, you are rigth, he is truly an incompetent.

It doesn't look like this Slide is built by the same dev. It's just inspired by Slide for Reddit.

That's a lot of cross-posted
5 0 ReplyRight now the best is Mlem for me.
6 1 ReplyMlem is let down by the scrolling, way smoother on Memmy and Liftoff that i am also testing.
Mlem has the best font size though

Sucks that all of the iOS apps require getting an invite to TestFlight, including joining some discord server to ask for it. It doesn’t help that Lemmy on mobile Safari sucks, so being an iOS user on Lemmy requires either a lot of patience or a high level of commitment.
It’s nice that there are a lot being worked on, but I feel like whichever hits the appstore first will win.
7 3 ReplyGetting into the beta for Memmy is about as easy as it gets. Just download TestFlight and click on the invite link: https://testflight.apple.com/join/6jaRU6rD
9 0 ReplyYou can join just by clicking the TestFlight link as long as the beta isn’t full. Here’s all the ones available for iOS currently.

I also just tried the wefwef mobile and it works perfectly.
Honestly you can’t really go wrong with any of those options as a iOS user
4 0 ReplyLemmy on mobile Safari sucks
Have you tried wefwef.app? I've only looked at it, but it seems like a pretty lightweight handheld-first web interface.
3 1 ReplyLove wefwef - started using it 2 days ago and so far used it exclusively since. Was using Memmy & Mlem before that and they’re good. Wefwef - what’s up with that name though?

Why Tailwind?
No good reason. Initially I wanted to try out a seemingly-good CSS framework. It turned out to be awful, and so did Tailwind.
My advice? Never use Tailwind. It's a waste of time.
Lulz
3 0 ReplyDoes anyone know if there is a browser extension like RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite)? I really used the navigation bar with the ability to group communities.
3 0 ReplyI'm using Liftoff on IOS and it works great
2 0 ReplyAre apps site-exclusive or federated as well? Will I be able to use a Lemmy app with a kbin account?
2 0 ReplyArtemis is being built with both kbin and Lemmy support! The magazine is /m/ArtemisApp.
1 0 ReplyWorks better than both Reddit mobile and Reddit mobile web
1 0 Reply
The mobile site for kbin works quite well, you can install it as a PWA from your browser and it works much like a normal app.

Memmy looks good, thanks. (Better than Mlem imho)
2 0 ReplyThis is incredibly helpful. Thank you.
2 0 ReplyAwesome post, thank you! Sync for Lemmy is exciting. It was always my favourite reddit app.
1 0 ReplyThe new TestFlight link for Liftoff is now available (they switched developer account so new versions need this link)
https://testflight.apple.com/join/jKENkGjX1 0 ReplyI don't know what my problem is but liftoff isn't showing up in my android play store. I'm trying Connect instead.
NM went to git and got the link from there1 0 Reply
