Favorite vernacular architecture types/architects?

Do any of you here have some recs for vernacular architecture?

I'm a big fan of using google maps or google earth to "roam" ordinary streets in different countries to see what's going on, but I imagine that's very trial and error and maybe I'm missing out on some awesome stuff.
