The Minnesota Twins have won their first playoff game since October 5, 2004

Oct. 5, 2004, by the way. The Twins topped the New York Yankees 2-0 in the first game of the American League Divisional Series. Johan Santana was the starting pitcher for the Twins and Mike Mussina was on the mound for the Yankees. Jacque Jones hit the game's lone home run.

Since that game, the Twins have lost 18 straight playoff matchups — 13 of them to the Yankees.

  • Good for them! They deserved the win. The crowd arrived ready to cheer their team on, the 2-run bomb in the first got them running, and they were loud throughout the game. As a Jays fan, I hope there'll be a game 3. We're now a playoff 0-5 (or 0-6) in the Bo and Vladdy era
