Can't seem to be able to find any community from this instance: lemmy.fmhy.ml

I have an account on that instance and naturally, I can view all of the communities on that instance, but when I search communities from this account, it doesn't return any results from that instance.

Likewise, in a browser, I log in with this account and try to open a link to a post on that instance and it just says that I need to log in in order to post. 🤷

  • You have to copy the link to a community (or post or comment), go to the search bar, make sure the search is set to "All" and not "Communities," then paste the link, search for it, then search for it again. Existing posts and comments won't be synced (unless you search for them), but if you subscribe to a community then alll new posts and comments will be synced to your instance.

Those communities will show up on your instance, so you don't need to leave the website of your instance.

  • The instances are connected so it should be possible

    This is a fmhy post.

    • Yeah, I saw that they're connected, but none of the communities show up when I search in Jerboa, only when I search in the web UI and with a full URL, they show up. So yeah, I did add them through the web UI and can see them through Jerboa. Just feels kinda like the app is good enough for feeds and replying, just not about other things 🤷.

      • Oh I didn't realize you meant jerboa. Yeah the search in it, doesn't seem to work yet.

Jerboa is getting releases like weekly and the new influx of Lemmy users has also brought new jerboa devs. The app will get better soon I'm sure.

Also there's talk of Reddit apps coming to Lemmy... Like ljdawson is talking about making Reddit sync a Lemmy client.

  • When you say "that instance", which one is it?
