If we win tonight and Monterey Bay loses, we will be just 1 point behind them. And they are above the playoff line. Currently there are three clubs above the playoff line all at 40pts each. Those are our targets. Except we don't play any of them. Our only remaining Western Conference opponents are Sacramento tonight and Phoenix on October 7th. The other opponents are all Eastern Conference.

Does that seem strange to anyone? I would think that the scheduling people would try to facilitate some potential late season drama via intraconference play. But what do i know. Maybe the lack of our own stadium meant we had to squeeze all these Eastern Conference matches in at the end of the season.

Sacramento is currently in the #1 position in the Western conference. They have not yet clinched the division title (Question: why does the USL call it a division title when there are no divisions?), so expect them to come out swinging. Sacramento are not unstoppable; on July 22 we defeated the 3-0 at home.

Sacramento's home record is 9-2-3, which looks formidable, but Heart Health Park it is not an impenetrable fortress. That said, we have never won there. Losing twice and drawing once. Will tonight be a first for us?

In total this season, Sacramento has scored 45 goals to our 42. Here is the difference: they have only conceded 22 goals. We have conceded 45. They have the best GD in the league. We are going to have to break down their defense. Again. Sounds fun!
