[Vote] Defederate from instances like burggit moe (solved)
If that instance is too much for even exploding heads https://exploding-heads.com/post/139643 then it should also be too much for us.
Almost all other instances also block these types of instances.
Especially since this instance is Canadian and I bet a lot of us are Canadians and I think the laws relating to this type of content are far more strict here. I would prefer to be completely unrelated to these types of communities and instances.
I am generally against defederation but to me this is even worse than the botted instances.
Edit: I hope that as people find new instances or new instances like this open up we can proactively also defederate from them.
Hey all, after finding out that they were a loli friendly community I went ahead and blocked this instance. Didn't want to wait to go for a vote on this for obvious reasons shared by many of you.
Thank you for your support
Sadly I don't think they are the only one. But it's good that we now know where we stand with these instances and they can be defederate as the show up. Thank you for your hard work @[email protected]
I agree with defederating and blocking that instance. Burggit has been an issue for some time, the admins of that instance made their acceptance of illegal acts evident. Defederation should be reserved for severely illegal heinous acts and bot spam when there are no other options.
Drawn child porn is not something I want on my timeline. I've blocked multiple communities, but they keep getting made. Especially since jerboa doesn't blur NSFW yet this has been exhausting.
There was a fucking graph one made showing what was allowed on their community. It started at 19 ended at 1. The 'not allowed' section was at the extremes, both too old (late teens) and too young (babies).
I'm just hoping that we can get some ground rules in place for how we post to The Agora. Jumping straight to a vote should be left for extreme cases (and, this could be considered one.)
Let's make The Agora a place of thoughtful discussion, where people feel like they can speak their mind without being attacked for it, where people can respond to others without being attacked for it, and where courtesy and respect are freely given.
I'm not a fan of de-federation by any means, but instances that allow abusive content is a red line for me.
Brb, hiding behind some VPNs to investigate.
e: ew. Loli images, admins approved/created the communities. (If you don't know what loli is and don't want to risk an FBI raid, wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolicon)
Nay. Not that I expect my vote to matter; this seemed like an inevitability for a Canadian node. I mostly joined just to see how things shake out in the end.
So as an unsavory tourist, so long and thanks for all the fish. I hope there will continue to be neutral intermediaries where I could still hypothetically come and say hello, since I'd like to think I'm reasonably amiable under most circumstances. But if not, that's okay too. 👋
