The French probably realized the original Eiffel Tower, located in Las Vegas, was more famous and attracted more tourists, so there was no need for the replica in Paris.
Just like the Amish building a barn, the French are used to taking down the Eiffel tower in times of need.
It must be because they need the steel to build the olympic stadium.
