It's funny that such a huge proportion of anime are set in high school, yet so few of them have characters that actually feel like teenagers. This is one of those shows that actually manages it, which makes it equal parts charming and melancholic. This is our daily reminder that we missed out on adolescent friendship and now it's gone forever! Thanks a lot Skip and Loafer!
Loved the show. The finale wasn't quite what I was expecting but still a nice ending to season. Sousuke finally settled things done with his childhood friend. Almost everyone is happy after the cultural festival. Though that doesn't mean that I don't want another season right now. This show was really putting a smile on my face every week. Can't wait for a second season.
I do wish it had more romantic progression but at the same time I appreciate the slow burn. Tempted to dive into the manga but I kinda want to hold out for a season 2.
If it helps, the anime leaves off around Chapter 23-24 in the manga, would highly recommend continue reading! There are currently 52 chapters translated on aggregator sites.
I wholeheartedly agree with this and at the same time, found the pace of the relationship development kind of refreshing. That romantic hook was not required since what the overall show is doing is just that good. I eagerly await the next season.
thought it was a 13-ep season so was half-expecting a next episode.
as an anime-only, hopefully ririka pops up again in the future. feels like she's just getting started in seriously processing that whole ordeal for whatever reason: whether it being due to being in her position/expectations of her/people around her, not having the maturity quite yet to deal with it, or just not being able to process these sorts of things as well as her peers (definitely relatable things). would be interesting to see where she goes from now.
