I tuned in to CBC radio last week in the middle of an interview and wondered "why are they even giving this completely full of shit oil industry lobbyist any air time?" until it came to the end and I found out it was the Premier of Alberta. This article makes her sound pretty reasonable compared to what she said herself.
I sometimes wonder if Canadians are moving to alberta in droves for the show. Come watch Smith do her one person act and see the worst joke in Canada go down in person.
Main reason is lower house pricing relative to where they are coming from, cost of living, and lifestyle/mountains/nature. They usually aren't thinking of or are willing to live here despite the political landscape.
Calgary itself is very welcoming because everyone here is from everywhere else.
My mother and her idiot boyfriend moved there after an extended conflict over the care of a family member among multiple other levels of lunacy.
Their politics align with the narcissist 'freedom' movement so they'll fit right in. The sad part is that my mother's complex/rare health issues are unlikely to get the care and attention from professionals to manage it correctly, and she'll suffer (or die suddenly) as a result. Not looking forward to that phonecall...
