Preferred Software Forge in the Global South?
Is Gitee, GitHub, or some other software forge preferred in China and the Global South?
I'm trying to decide whether I should mirror my open-source repos onto Gitee or another forge, as Github's dominance in the space and ownership by Microsoft is rather disconcerting for anyone in non-U.S.-aligned countries.
I half-remember reading somewhere that GitHub isn't available in China but I'm not sure. OpenKylin, a Chinese Linux distro, seems to have it's repository hosted on gitee
I've recently seen people host stuff on a site called CodeBreg, try that maybe?
People where I live often use GitHub as Source Control. I'm yet to find anyone who uses anything else (like GitLab, Gitea, Gitee, Bitbucket, etc.) as Source Control.
I will say I have thought of hosting a Gitea instance, I might do it someday.First time hearing about Gitee actually, I'm gonna guess it's supposed to be the Chinese equivalent of GitHub?

Gross. People should stop relying on services that would pull the rug on the users if they're not licking Usania boots, or if the country they're from that isn't licking Usania boots.
