Thus disarming the lie that he's a dictator that is spread by fine people like Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Lemmy tankies.
Of course that's not what he said. As usual the media twist and turn his statement to make interesting news. What he said was he was willing to resign if Ukraine would join NATO. That last part is conveniently ignored by journalists.
Why would his resigning bring peace?
He said this to counter the russian lies (that Trump and Musk are parroting) that he's in effect a dictator because he hasn't "allowed" elections.
"A dictator disproves the fact of him being a dictator by saying he is not".
Wow, that's pure genius right here.

No no you don't get it. A dictator isn't when you outlaw opposition parties, call off elections, and push charges of treason for dissident leaders and publish their names in a kill list.
Dictatorship is when you don't obey every whim of the US.
Smart move tbh. Pressure is applied, pressure is returned to sender. Given Zelenskyys now mediocre approval, it might even boost public opinion in his favour
The context for the first link - the parliament actually FAILED to vote for it the first time (that's why the second attempt was required). https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2025/02/24/7499829/ imagine banning opposing political parties, and still failing to secure a vote "confirming" your legitimacy. Yep, that's how bad it is.
As for the second link (in case there are people who unironically believe this) - people are literally kidnapped from the streets, packed into vans and sent to the meatgrinder. Remember hearing about oppressive regimes where you are going to jail for criticizing the government? Ukraine is a democratic country, so here you are not going to jail, you are going to be just killed. I don't know who are the 43% in this article brave enough to say they don't support Zelensky.
