"Remilyn conveyed she could not read & write because she lost interest to study when her mother prioritized her stepsister’s education over hers. With her finishing Kindergarten, she is now able to write and is slowly learning to read."
Might be a conscious decision on her part. Next step could be to apply for ALS.
