I know that most of you maybe just come here to fap in peace. I will leave you alone in a minute. Before that, consider reading the following document. It was written 80 years ago and describes how fascism was able to rise and what are the signs to spot it.

There is little we as individuals can do. Spreading awareness and speaking up is one thing.
Conveniently leaves out that the powerful financial interest that helped create fascism in the first place were wealthy US individuals. We created the problem and then helped solve it by killing countless civilians. That makes us the good guys.
Please can there be one tiny corner of the internet not posting about politics. Looking at the greater Lemme/Reddit spaces there is no shortage of political commentary.
Please leave it out of here.
TL;DR: you may not care about politics, but politics cares about you.
There are no things that aren't political.
The fascists will ban such tiny corners of the internet from the public as soon as they can.
See porn bans in the US, sometimes masquerading as adult ID laws. See laws forcing sex work underground, which enable abuse.
Queer people that can post here freely. Imagine Lemmy NSFW's being forced by law to remove non-heteronormative content or shut down. ...and then being shut down anyway for hosting "immoral content" or "demoralising children".
Controlling the sexual sphere is one of the goals of fascism.
This comment pretty much covers why I posted this. If you live in a group of people there will always be politics. I work with Egyptians, Russians, Italians, Germans and so on. I want to do something to fight fascism, even if it is only posting on the internet. People have to get more political again.
Considering these same christofascists are trying so hard to ban porn I'm not sure we can ignore it. These tiny Corners are going to be banned soon if they can.

Yes exactly. But stuff like this distracts from that activity.
I don't know if this is a lemmy feature or the app I use (boost) but I can highly recommend adding content filters on here
Up until now it hasn't been an issue on this server. But if this keeps up thats probably a good idea to enable. Not sure if Voyager has them though
