Still a bit surprised by one of the mods statements
You got everything you wanted.
Well, no, [email protected] still hasn't been transferred to [email protected] mod team. But as we stated in the post we're currently in, it doesn't matter that much.
Here is an updated (so hopefully harassment-free version of the post:)
yeh I saw that, I dont think ur post was harassment but I do kinda get theyd feel that way with all the hate theyre getting XP I do feel like it was a bit too much posting that on their community, would have made more sense on this community but anyway I think we should stop talking about that now that it seems the drama has mostly ended :3
I absolutely knew this was coming. I held onto this comment exchange specifically because I knew they would drop the hammer-
How this is anything other than a threat, when said by someone with authority, I'll never know. As far as whether or not it's harassment, I can't see the one you did link, but if you called them a name, then that's definitely not okay. However, I will add that as a mod, if you get asked a question in public and don't reply to it, you can absolutely expect the commenter to keep asking it. That isn't harassment so much as it's expected human behavior.
Part of being a mod is agreeing to deal with even the most insistent, possibly annoying people. It's not against the rules to be insistent or annoying, so you really need either the patience of a school teacher, or the rigid clenched fist of an authoritarian. My go-to move was, anytime someone annoyed me in such a way that I felt I couldn't answer without overstepping, I'd flag a different moderator and ask them to respond. You don't have to actually engage if you're worried someone will raise your blood pressure. That's why you need a team. And communciation!
Oof. Yeah. Well, I feel like this was probably a PTB sitch but also one we could easily see coming. They can't have you commenting in their domain and showing people the mistakes they made.
In the meantime, I haven't seen them comment on what happened publically and not receive a ton of displeasure from the crowd. Any particularly loud voices are going to be targeted anyway they can be, and yours, being that you posted to YPTB (where they were again flamed in the comments) is an easy one to single out.
Yes! This is exactly the thing. So if that user was like, more online, they might have followed those mods around asking them to answer this post. Then, they would have banned them for harassment, since they were following the mods around, and that would "solve" them never answering the big post.
Here's the thing - I'm on Lemmy a lot throughout the day, but I mostly just browse and upvote.
I like blahaj, was going to sign up there actually, but I think db0 is more aligned to me, so I'm staying here. That said, 196 was a fun, silly place to go to when I'm feeling overloaded/stressed/whatever, and its really pleasant to know it was a hate-free space. Just a little comfort spot of ridiculousness.
I'm only commenting a lot now because they are willing to let hate in (whether they realize that or not did not and does not matter). I'm glad to see so many others took issue in the same way.
For the record, I kind of agree with the outcome here. The mods are getting enough pushback and you escalating it to name calling did not advance the wellbeing or outcome for either side.
I was just being really frustrated with that mod not having a local account, and not being recognizing that was an issue. That's basic knowledge that every mod has that you won't get the reports from a non-local account.
People are allowed to make mistakes, to be clueless. But trying to throw Ada and Blahaj under the bus because they didn't just cared enough to create a post on Blahaj meta community just seemed weird to me.
