The only one I found by searching is way out of date and doesn't seem to work. But it feels like there's got to be one out there somewhere

I couldn't find something specific for showing notifications, but https://github.com/tasks/tasks Is doing it for any due task. I personally use it a lot.

E: Fwiw, it does show up for me, but it seems to have been kind of abandoned? Perhaps it only shows for me because I've had it installed all this time?

That sounds like a lot more functionality than I presently need, but it looks like an awesome option, I'll absolutely keep it in mind! Thanks for taking the time to share it with me! ☺️
Something to remember crosses your mind and an alarm or a note is the best solution you know of? Then you haven't tried SimpleReminder yet!
