what sort of music/instruments? I used to dabble around with sousaphone/tuba back in the day (have a curved bell 4-key full brass tuba in my computer room now but havent played it in decades - lost my chops).
So, hey! I'm an internet person that's floated around etherspace awhile, not that long, but at least long enough that I remember ol' forums and stuff like StumbleUpon.
I'm into some webcomics and really enjoy reading, but I'm also really bad/good about both getting a bunch of books & making lists of books to read and just kind of sporadically reading some of them. I dabble in a lot more, but this is me trying to keep it brief, so I'm stopping here.
Wildly different tonally, but I enjoy Questionable Content, Dresden Codak, and Rice Boy. The last one is a complete longform comic, so of the three it's probably the easiest to recommend checking out.
The first two are still on-going, which I enjoy, but means there can be some catching up for either the stories or story arcs happening (in the case of QC). Then again, you can kinda drop into Questionable Content whenever, as it's definitely the chillest of the three, but there's still low stakes lil' story arcs happening.
howdy all. click on my profile name to see a little bit about me. been into computers/tech since the dawn of the www.* - but only doing it professionally for the last 20 years - aerospace/defense, civil engineering/architecture, and now finance/banking.
15 years of redditing down the drain (as it were), and here we are - ditched it a few days ago & started here (well, lemmy.ml first but lemmy.world seems to be more stable). this distributed federation platform is really interesting from a technical perspective, and dynamic... and there seems to be less toxicity - it's there, you have to go looking for it though (lemmygrad, etc). I've been adding to the communities as I can - those here on lemmy.world as well as a few over on kbin, midwest, and a few other instances.
I'm on the west coast (best coast) for the time being but eventually I'd like to transition to a more of a nomadic way of life - hopefully within the next 18 months, or so (reference https://lemmy.world/post/176167).
yeah, larger cities are beginning to become unmanageable/ungovernable, there's too many people and too much poverty/crime - granted, the people that can afford to leave do so, and as a result the local tax revenues decrease as well... but I see that as their problem, not my problem.
I still need internet to work/acquire currency, but 5g (or just LTE) is basically everywhere except very remote places. with the right networking hardware, it's rather simple to get internet access via the cellular system (satellite based internet is an option but the tech isnt quite there yet) - I'll be going with a bonded cellular router, probably Verizon and Tmobile, they have complimentary coverage zones.
Hi. I just arrived. I'm from far away - Australia..... and I had to escape, mentally that is 😉 So, pretty happy to be finally here 👍I'm just bumbling my way along for the moment, so if/when I bungle something, please feel free to show me how it's supposed to be done 😉 I'm from the northern regions of Australia up in that tip. The tourist tropical mountains, reef and rain forest area. I tell you, it's a privilege to live here: blue skies, puffy clouds, days mostly of about 29 degrees celsius. Just the odd destructive cyclone every now and then, but hey..... that's ok - keeps the masses away...lol.
Me and my glass-work 😎 Obviously I’m putting it on for the camera - however, I was particularly 'happy happy joy joy' that day…lol
Hello, I'm an English teacher! Originally from America but I live in Taiwan now. I spend my free time playing video games, reading books, writing stories, and watching anime.
Oh that's tough. I've only recently started watching anime in the last couple of years so I don't have much to draw from, but I really like HunterXHunter, Fullmetal Alchemist, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, Way of the Househusband, and the new Gundam Witch from Mercury.
