People aged 50 or older are the fastest-growing group of people experiencing homelessness in America and their numbers are estimated to triple by 2030
I think the numbers are higher. People like me are living in buses, vans and SUVs on public land such as forest service and BLM who never get counted.
Every January there is a point in time census that trues to count all the homeless people in America in 1 day. It's dumb, but it affects funding allocation so its important. I used to be the guy going out and finding the folks who were sleeping in tents in the woods. Crazy stuff.
Interesting, so far no one has asked me. You're free to come out the camp and have a beer if you want.
