North Korea says it will cut off all roads to the South
It comes as tensions between the Koreas are at their highest point in years.
Its military said the North would “permanently shut off and block the southern border” and fortify areas on its side.
North Korea cutting off all road and rail access to South Korea is a pretty big deal. It’s like they’re drawing a line in the sand and saying, “That’s it, we’re done.” Kim Jong-un isn’t even pretending to want reunification anymore, and now they’re fortifying the border? While these moves might be more about sending a message than starting an actual conflict, it’s still pretty concerning. With the U.S. already busy in Iran and Ukraine how thin can they get stretched?
Were... uh, were those roads being used much..?
They used to have a joint industrial park with the South on the border, and a lot more friendlier interactions. So they had certainly been used more in the past.
Not sure it matters.
NK is only politically interesting to the rest of the world because of massive mineral deposits.
