Kinda house of glass situation, though, isn't it? I mean, the ethical footprint of regular porn is not that light as well.
Strictly personally, I find the improvement that AI porn brings on that count as more than offsetting the other considerations. But I recognize that opinions may differ.
Sure, I have. But compared to reddit the volume of activity is very small. What puzzles me most is that there seems to have been some sort of extinction event about a year ago which more or less wiped out what was then a growing scene.
there were a ton of people here a yearish ago thanks to the reddit api bs, that was the initial wave, then people dropped off and went back to reddit because this platform isn't as mature or feature rich. Now, there are more apps and moderation tools, stability etc. and the platform is growing much more slowly and organically. We're a small, slowly growing community. It's nowhere near as big as reddit, but it's growing every day, and I hope that it's here long after reddit is a complete corporate shithole. But that also means it's not going to be as active yet.
If there are a lot of missing images, that's because lemmy's federation used to work a little bit differently and there were trolls posting CP on a major instance so the admins of the sites that were federated with that site basically had to wipe the image database before a certain date, but that was awhile back.
