Kingda Ka still closed but should reopen next week after inspection

www.nj.com Kingda Ka closed at Six Flags Great Adventure after ‘rollback’ malfunction

Kingda Ka, the world's largest roller coaster, will be closed until the cause of the malfunction can be identified, New Jersey officials said.

It seems enthusiasts have gone nuts over the recent cable snap on Kingda Ka with many saying it'll be closed all season. Reality is that a cable snap is not unheard of and is a part that parks typically have on hand (which, according to my contacts, seems to be the case here). In reading this article it seems clear that NJ is over-reacting and requiring a re-inspection which is what's taking it so long to reopen. If all goes well, the ride should reopen next week after NJ inspects the ride (which they won't do on a weekend or the holiday on Monday).

The article is a bit over-hyped as the media usually does with roller coasters but if you pay attention to what they are saying it's clear that this isn't a big deal like many have been suggesting that it was.
