My friend's 4-year-old daughter picked up a children's book promoting transgenderism at the public library. Its content alarmed both of us.
“I’m a moderate who previously thought the book bans were outrageous,” my friend told me, referring to the attempt by some local governments to restrict sex-themed kids’ books in public libraries and schools. “I support the gays and the queens but not the idea of teaching a child they should be depressed over the gender they were born into.”
It’s worth repeating that she had no idea her child had chosen this book until after she and her family had gotten home. She had assumed that when her daughter came back to her with a vibrant picture book plucked from the kids’ section that it was harmless literature for children. But as we’ve seen, the kids are no longer off limits. The militant transgender activist lobby is out to get them and this is how they’re doing it.
As usual simply reading the text makes it clear this is nothing but exaggeration and fear mongering. The book says restricting people to strict gender roles causes depression. Absolutely nothing suggests children should be depressed about their gender.
I think telling people they can change their gender is what is making these people depressed. Instead you can tell them something true, like they can lose weight.
That's just about as backwards an idea as I could imagine. They experience depression because of how they're treated by people (probably especially people like you, judging by the username).
They should be encouraged to embrace reality to defeat depression not embrace their mental disorders.
This man probably had a wife and kids before he Transitioned. As so many do. He then would have gone through a divorce and made his children as depressed as himself.
Social Norms are encouraged for a reason. They work. Telling people they can be what ever they identify with is both wrong, and dangerous. For numerous reasons.
You can't just invent an entire story for this person that you know nothing about as some kind of "evidence".
Social norms are encouraged to keep the status quo and control people. The biggest danger they face is from ignorant assholes who think they don't deserve to live just because they want to live their life a different way.
I did not invent a story, I presented you with a recurrent theme. You are welcome to search out such stories yourself. Reddit's transition subreddits are full of them. Plenty of videos about the topic as well.

This is a unfortunate misunderstanding of society, culture, and evolution. Rather than debate with you this topic i'm going to encourage you to think about it. think about why we do the things we do. What do traditional roles play in our survival? how are they connected to reproductive success? What does our own biology have to do with traditional societal roles?
The statement I made is so self evident I hardly expected someone from a instance dedicated to the sciences to be so ignorant on the topic.
To be honest your lack of critical reasoning on this topic caught me off guard. But that is ok, you can learn.
