This isn’t new. They’ve always wanted this. The only new thing is that now they feel emboldened to actually do it.
And every single person who feels safe right now because this isn’t affecting them is in for a very rude awakening.
I live in Texas. I know these people. They think American = white, cis, straight, conservative. They will stop at nothing. They don’t care who gets hurt.
They believe it's better for 10 members of the in-group to by punished than to let 1 member of the out-group live in peace, just as long as they're not one of the 10.
Yeah, and in today's America right wing conservatism is almost entirely concentrated in the GOP. Not really sure what the history of the party flip (which happened over half a centurythe better part of a century ago) has to do with anything in the screenshot?
Sorry, I didn't mean to be confrontational. Of course right wing conservatism and the GOP go hand in hand today, to the point that many people don't even differentiate between them.
The text of the post reads kind of like the GOP is the problem, as opposed to being where you can find the problem so very readily. I wanted to point out that we should be looking out for the bad political philosophy that the Republican party embraces even when it's outside the Republican party. Even where it's found inside the Democratic party. And I used the example of the party flip to illustrate that.
Hmm, I thought we had a two party system, surely with such blatant things like this happening the other party passed a bunch of laws and federal guidelines making these kinds of things illegal?
