Sometimes. It's to have a variety of heat zones.
If you're just cooking pizza then it's fine if it's all the same temp. But if you're cooking different things that require different Temps. Different story.
It is suppose to be for that type of oven. You have the heat source off to the side so you have space to cook. It the fire was in the center, you would have nowhere to cook.
I expected a deeper chamber with the flame centered against the back dome wall tbh
