Fun fact, a lot of the cards they make are hanafuda cards, aka flower cards! These decks are usually made of slightly thick plastic, like a cross between tiles and cards. Hanafuda decks have 12 suits (one for each month) with 4 cards per suit. There are many games you can play with them, my partner and I got really into Koi Koi a few years ago, great fun for 2!
Nintendo still makes these, including like mario themed decks!
