The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. - Proverbs 27:7
The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. - Proverbs 27:7
Has your stomach ever been so full that you were miserable? If so, you know that, at that moment, it is easy to push away even your most favorite food in disgust; but when hungry, your tongue can find even the blandest food exploding with delectable flavor.
So it is with Scripture, which when you think yourself full of understanding or a good person, you easily find Scripture a chore to read; but, if you confess your sin before God, maintaining a hunger for righteousness, even the most difficult morsel of God's Word will explode in your mind with new understanding and wisdom in your heart.
"O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." - Ps 34:8
