Seems like a good reason to get a doorbell that you can control yourself.
How is it even possible that Amazon has the ability to access customers data, you would think that they encrypt it so that no one other than the owner of the device could access the data. More and more reasons to abandon the ring platform and move over to selfhosted heaven!
Running HomeAssistant I'm probably a bit biased on the IoT front, but definitely agree that that traffic should not be leaving the premises unless it's over a VPN to your own devices. I'll give Nabu Casa a pass here as it's essentially the same thing.
