Welcome to Metroidvania! What are you currently playing?
It's my favorite gaming genre by far. I'm currently finishing a run in Lone Fungus which has become a surprise hit for me.
What are you playing?
Note to Reddit /r/metroidvania mods:
I noticed there was no metroidvania community here yet so I decided to create one. If the original mods of that community want to join send me a message. I do not want to be a mod, I just wanted to see my favorite community on Lemmy.
It's worth finishing. Hollow Knight was one of those games that made me a really patient gamer. Recognizing that you get further and further with each retry shows that you can progress with enough repetition and practice. Good luck on the end!
Thank you for creating the community, r/metroidvania is one of the subs I miss most from Reddit, I was hoping some of the community would eventually show up here.
I’ve been playing Control a lot recently and am loving it so far. I’ve also got Ori and the Blind Forest in my rotation, sure seems like a masterpiece.
I've been having fun with Aeterna Noctis after stopping my playthrough of Chronicles of 2 Heroes: Amaterasu's Wrath. 22 hours in so far and I'm maybe half-way through? Instant favorite, I feel like I likely gonna try to a 100% (or close to it).
I think AN took me 40 hours to 100%, an instant classic. Sounds like you're playing it with the recent patch and I think it greatly improves the experience.
I absolutely loved Haiku the Robot. It's a tad on the easier and shorter side but maybe that's because I've had so much time in the seat with other MV's. I think it's length is one of it's strengths. The world building is really strong and everything feels meaningfully designed with no filler.
I just finished Lone Fungus this morning. I don't want to spoil the experience by giving my take but am curious to hear your thoughts about it when you're done!
Two that come to mind for me are Axiom Verge (an excellent Metroid-like game), and After Death (which isn't too impressive at first, but I found it to be kind of relaxing to play. Except I could never figure out how to damage the final boss).
Ooh, Hollow Knight. I've been sitting on that one for a while...need to get around to it. Probably should finish up Shantae first, as some of my friends who know that game have been asking me to finish that.
