Couldnt you just dig a bit more and go through the side of casket?
- It actually had two halves with rods connecting the two, which prevented that!

  So dig 10 feet down and get to the casket from the bottom!
I've seen similar things to this and my dumb child self believed it when I was told it was to stop the zombies coming out of graves after the rapture.
