During a recent talk, Tinybuild CEO Alex Nichiporchik said the publisher has been feeding internal comms into ChatGPT to assess and predict worker behaviour.
Article by GameDeveloper: The CEO of game publisher Tiny Build has boasted that his company uses ChatGPT in order to surveil their employees in order to find what amounts to grounds to fire them. CEO backpedals and claims his statements were "hypothetical".
My conspiracy theory on this: part of me thinks its because if the corporate owners of America actually automate the boring jobs, then that means normal people would have time to finally relax and maybe realize how fucked up our country is, and also have the time to more effectively help worker movements.
But if you automate the fun and creative stuff like art, use AI tools to more or less break people… it’s easier to control a bunch of tired and sad people than it is to control people in a normal state.
Equating toxicity to burnout is misguided at best, but what's more concerning is the fact that, earlier on in the talk, Nichiporchik spoke about removing problematic players from the company to increase productivity.
So:
burn out your workers because of your inability to identify structural issues in your company
spy on your workers to identify those who are struggling the most
