I mentioned Sam Hill getting approval from Scio Township last year but I’ve been skeptical this entire time that Sam Hill would actually open. The entire plan was ambitious and that location seems like a tough place to thrive.
However, I’m happy to see progress, and I noticed they are hiring for their fall opening. The construction looks good, and they’ve been active on social media. I’m excited to see this place open, this side of town is severely lacking in restaurants. The success of Session Room makes me believe there is real demand for a more casual and beer/pub focused experience. There are a lot of families out that way with young kids and an open beer garden concept will attract that crowd.
For context if you missed it: Sam Hill is a restaurant with beer garden and large outdoor venue. I’m not too familiar with the details of the menu etc., but it looks promising. It’s popped up over the last couple of years as a concept, then approvals, and finally looks to be crossing the finish line.
Nice to see some work being done there! The Standard was great, but I don't know if the location was able to support it. Then COVID came in and the place was done for.
With the new development at Staebler and Park, and the sub being built on Liberty, and the wider focus of Sam Hill, hopefully they'll be able to stick around!
Those neighborhoods are huge. The growth is slowly spreading down Jackson road, with some infill opportunities. The stretch from Zeeb to Baker road is primed for development.
Having not heard anything about this yet, I looked it up and found their website. Looks like they plan to open in August and are by the Meijer on Jackson.
