You've not "owned" games on Steam at the very least since they changed the contract you're closing from "purchase" to "subscription".

It wouldn't be a problem if one could just download and install the games without the Steam crap. But of course we can't do that because PiRaTEs or something
This change is required as core features in Steam rely on an embedded version of Google Chrome, which no longer functions on older versions of Windows. In addition, future versions of Steam will require Windows feature and security updates only present in Windows 10 and above.
This at least in part seems to be more of an upstream of Steam issue. Doesn't really affect me though, linux still works fine XD.
