Festival with 1,000-year history succumbs to graying population

Kokuseki Temple's Sominsai festival used to take place from the seventh day of Lunar New Year through to the following morning.

Gonna be honest and say that I read "gaying" population at first and was curious to read how that impacts any festival at all.

Sad to hear that the demographic shift has such an impact on certain traditions. Let's see if they can change the form of the festival and keep it around in some way.
That's a shame. Something around and enjoyed for so long, now being lost.
