Request for trans / queer / feminist non-youtube channels
Hello,
tbh, i hate youtube and its right wing algorithm with the fullest of my heart. I know there are probably many great trans / queer / feminist youtube channels, but i even hate visiting the startpage or looking at the sidebar.
(And yes, i know it can be disabled, but stil...)
tldr: does any of you have great peertube channels? with kind of regular content?
Nebula is a good alternative to YouTube for established channel, and has no weird algorithm and evil people. If you can afford the subscription (3$/month, 30/year) I highly recommend it.
Now, on Peertube, unfortunately I don't know any English queer channels, but I'll look around and report back here if I do - and will check the comments here :)
(I'll also post a separate comment for French channels with the language set as French so that it doesn't flood the comments for people who have disabled French content in their settings)
thank you for the recommendation of nebula! this looks interesting. As far as i understand the site, the 3$ / month subscription is per channel kind of? and 5$ / month is everything, when you don't support a particular channel/creator.
So, does that mean, if i pay for the 3$, i can only watch this creator?
I've honestly had pretty decent luck with TikTok. My fyp is almost exclusively neurodivergent creators, dogs, trans/nonbinary folks, and very leftist stand-up.
I recently / reluctantly created a tiktok account to follow trans / lgbtq creators and news stories.
But I know that their algorithm is also not perfect and some people have said that it sends them right leaning content, because “outrage” = “engagement” and “engagement” = “$$$”
I stay away from the “for you” page and just manually seek out the content I want to see.
Yeah, it's true that engagement means you will see more of the content. I make sure to block the creator quickly if it doesn't it -phobic and my FYP even is really well curated. Hate to talk up the app too much, because there's definitely a lot of faults with it. But I'm glad to have a positive experience somewhere.
