[Discussion] Which directors are you currently following closely?
Asking because I saw another Ridley Scott news and I think that he maybe kind of lost it somehow. Having been in that field for so long, you probably run out of things to tell.
So question to the community: which are your favorite current directors?
The last duel from ridley was amazing but just didn't do too well. I think it's more that he can no longer tell the stories he wants it at least can't get the funding for them. I've enjoyed what he's done recently though.
For directors I've been following are Denis Villeneuve. Blade Runner 2049 made me a fan for life and his previous work (a lot of which I knew beforehand just want aware of him at the time) has solidified my fondness for him.
Same goes for anything Roger Deakins works on in any capacity (i know he's not a director)
I also really like Edgar Wright. I've enjoyed everything he's done. They're always fun.
There's probably way more, but as I'm sitting on the toilet I've drawn a blank.
I enjoyed napoleon quite a bit, I do think a film focusing on just the part where he overthrows the government would've been better but I understand (i think) wanted to focus it mostly on his letters to josephine. I also enjoyed watching the absolute snowball of failure he had in the second half.
