Second Punch Needle Project

I have no experience with stitching or embroidery, but I just want to say that I love this one.
It looks super cute.

See this is what I love about looking at non-cross-stitch types of work. You're not limited by a grid, you can just draw whatever you want and bring it to life!

He's definitely looking very pleased with himself. Are the colours in the little lightining bolt significant or just to look cool (which they do!)?

A friend of mine has been talking about us getting into punch needle together but tbh I'm not sure what we'd need exactly, maybe you can advise. Looks like you're just using a regular hoop and aida there, so all we'd need is the punch needle and yarn? I'm kinda hoping the yarn is just any kind, and not some special kind, because I maaaay have quite the random yarn collecting lying around the house already.
