ESPN Sources: The Orlando Magic are promoting Anthony Parker to GM, replacing longtime league executive John Hammond who’s decided to transition into a senior advisory role.
Surprise semi-retirement move from Hammond.
Anthony Parker did make the Lakeland team a G-League champion, so that's a better record already than most people out there can show.
Also, some promotions in the structure, namely Pete D'Alessandro moving into VP of Basketball Operations. I have no opinion of him in this role, but I'll say I was not happy when we hired him into our org based on his record with the Kings and how their fan base celebrated getting rid of him.
Excited for this. Gotta believe Hammond feels like he's leaving the team in good hands + setting Parker up to succeed. I imagine he feels pretty good about the pieces he's put together on this team.
