Does the Butcher scare the shit out of anyone else when he suddenly appears?

I've beaten him three times now, but my god he is terrifying and hard to kill at lower levels. My 55 barb just pastes him into a wall, but I was just playing my lvl 22 necro and he almost killed me multiple times.
