New Icon and Banner are Live [Meta]
I set them last night, and I'm not sure how long it takes for those to show up on other instances. I am curious though, so if you wouldn't mind dropping a comment if/when you notice the new icon/banner show up on your instances.
The winner of the pos-mens is @[email protected] for the banner and for creating the animated icon. Honorable mention to @[email protected] for the inspiration for the icon.

They'll show up straight away, because changes to a community are federated out (so if someone is seeing your post, they'll have the change to the community). Changes to user profiles profiles aren't federated though, so it's them that you have to wait for (different software refresh them at different intervals - Lemmy is 24 hrs I think).
The icon isn't animated on PieFed though, so I guess that's something we'll have to look into.
Oh, I didn't know that. My only experience with community changes propagating out is when I finally got around to adding rules to the sidebar, they didn't show up on Lemmy World for about a day or so (probably 24hrs like you mentioned about user profiles).
I asked for the icon submissions to be animated webp since they're smaller and better quality than gifs. As a static image, does it at least show up in a way that makes sense?

Looks alright to me from their instance! It seems to be using the very first frame of the animation. I can always recreate it to start at a different frame, if you want.
