I liked my xiaomi 10 but not the ads and bloatware. My xiaomi 12 is worse than the 10 and I still have ads. Won't be getting one again
Why don't you just disable the ads and bloatware then?

Can you explain? Besides changing to an other OS I don't see how I can do this.
I actually tried messing with installing lineageos on my xiaomi 10 last week and after several hours I gave up.
Go to the apps that have ads and in it's settings turn off receive recommendations to disable them.
Other bloatware can be disabled via ADB
As for installing custom rom. You are required to wait for some time for xiaomi to approve your request before your bootloader can be unlocked.
