The unit outline for my next uni subject (sustainable design for houses) was released today & I'm pretty happy with what the main assignments involve. I'll basically be making a plan for my own future housing, which is what I want to do for myself anyway & a large part of why I was interested in this course.
Insulation please! So sick of houses that might as well be tents.
Insulation, double glazing, plus appropriate orientation and shading to not heat up like an oven in summer. The course also looks at issues like ventilation and air quality, condensation and mould, heating water and power use etc. Affordabilty and similar issues are also looked at, which is definitely an issue I need to consider.
Sounds fantastic. On a vaguely related note, WTF is with Victoria’s apparent allergy to floor drains in bathrooms?
That is a really good question - I would add that they should be included in laundries too. Also stopcocks to all sinks etc.
