This is what we Romanians call “pancakes” (clătite). In the US for example, these are not “pancakes”. What Americans call “pancakes”, we call “clătite americane” (American pancakes) or just “pancakes” (the untranslated English word).
I'm vegetarian (trying to be vegan) but have to cook meat for others and i'm not really bothered by the sight. Some are truly bothered though, and i'm very confident that the simple label would give them all the info they need to not click, so that's really who it's for.
On my home instance of hexbear all animal products go under such a tag and i think that's a very nice way of going about it so i keep it up when i'm in libland.
i'm not sure, I know it's a rule on the /c/food comm where i mostly post but everyone does it across the instance. The reason is precisely as I stated above, it's an easy and simple thing that makes our vegan and vegetarian friends feel welcome.
